It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Dr. Susan Conley Weeks on March 2, 2010 at the Dominican Life Center in Adrian. Susan taught for Siena Heights University for 25 years as a professor of religious studies and prior to that at the University of Notre Dame. She served as Assistant Dean of Faculty and Curriculum Development at Siena Heights from 1990 to 2003 and Director of the Program for Theological Studies serving the Lansing and Saginaw dioceses since 1995. Susan spent her early professional life in Homewood and St. Charles, Illinois and in Iron Mountain, Michigan teaching art in grades K-12. From 1973-74 she was a Retreat Team member for the Archdiocese of Chicago. Susan did Campus Ministry at Chicago State University from 1974-81. She was a vowed member of the Adrian Dominican Sisters for 25 years and cherished her continuing relationship with them. She spent the last 6 months under their tender care. She was an alumna of Rosary High School in Detroit, Siena Heights University, Catholic University, and Aquinas Institute where she earned her doctorate of ministry. For all of us who were privileged to have Susan for our classes in Theological Studies, we will always remember her for the depth of her knowlege, her spirituality and ability to challenge us to become a complete pastoral minister; able to competently join our Co-Workers the Vinyard of our Lord.
Our deepest sympathy to her mother, brothers and their families as well as her beloved Sisters of the Adrian Dominican Community. We were blessed to have loved and laughed with her - our memories are rich!
Visitation will be held on Friday, Mar. 5th from 2-4 & 6-7, A Prayer Service will be held from 7-8pm at Anderson Funeral Home, 3050 West Beecher Rd. Adrian.
Saturday, March 6, 9:30-10:30 - Visitation, followed by the Mass of Christian Burial in the Holy Rosary Chapel on the Motherhouse grounds of the Adrian Dominican Sisters Motherhouse, 1257 E. Siena Heights Dr. Adrian MI; Fr. Bob Kelly, OP will officiate.
This Quaker prayer was offered by Nancy Joseph, in Susan`s name
"We give her back to you, dear Lord, who gave her to us. Yet as you did not lose her in giving, So we have not lost her by her return. For what is yours is ours always, if we are yours. And life is eternal and love is immortal, And death is only a horizon, And a horizon is nothing more than the limit of our sight."
